What a very wide gap actually looks like
The mark runs one to four and it measures distance, not likelihood. At one, the poor version of a week is a small letdown you mention over dinner and then forget. At four, the two versions share dates, beds and a figure and very little else: the thing a place is known for is either in front of you or it is not, and there is no half way state. Three weeks on this site carry a four, and they carry it for different reasons. One depends on rock being dry enough to cross. One depends on a winter sky that stays dark for most of the day and may show nothing at all. One depends on cloud sitting above a ridge rather than on it. None of those three things is arranged in advance by anyone.
Same dates, same rooms, same figure
Nothing about the arrangement changes between the two versions. You sleep in the same guesthouse, four or six rooms, breakfast at a shared table, a boot rack by the door and a radiator that dries what you wore. You walk with the same guide, who lives there and spent the week before yours on the same ground. Your invoice comes from the firm that runs the week, under its own name, and this end is paid by that firm afterwards afterwards, so the figure on the page is the figure either way and no part of it comes back because the sky went the wrong direction. What moves between Monday and Sunday is only what the ground and the weather are doing, and no agreement on either side covers that.
Deciding before anything is placed
Read both halves of a place page and ask which one you could live with. If the poor half would ruin the week for you, four is the wrong mark to buy, and the narrower levels exist for exactly that reason. If the poor half still reads like a week you would take, the width costs you nothing and the good half is something you did not pay extra for. Some people pick a four on purpose, twice in three years, and treat the other outcome as the price of admission. Send the form with a place and a month. A written note comes back within one business day naming the operating company, what sits inside the figure, what sits outside it, and both versions again in writing before anything is placed.

Asked before anybody commits
Can you tell me the odds of getting the good week?
No. The office does not hold that number and will not invent one. The countries themselves keep long weather records and you are free to read them, but this office does not quote a figure it cannot point to in the text. What it can do is print both versions of a week in full, at the same price, and let you decide with them side by side.
Is a four priced lower because of the risk?
No. The figure follows nights, rooms, guides and the season the operating company works in. The mark describes how far apart the two versions sit and nothing else. Of the three weeks at this level, one sits near the top of the site by money because of winter staffing and distance, and the other two sit around the middle. Width is neither a reduction nor an addition.
Do you arrange the flights to Ireland, Norway or Italy?
No. Low Tide Ledger holds no contract with any carrier and arranges no travel by air or by sea. Getting to Ireland, Norway or Italy and home again is your own booking, made wherever you choose, and none of it sits inside the figure. Your week starts at the meeting point named in your written note and ends there. If your arrival day moves, tell the office and it passes that to the operating company.
